NOM

De legendarische band NOM uit Sint-Petersburg komt met hun kenmerkende dramatisch-idiote show.

Muziek, theater, absurdisme, satire en die volstrekt unieke wereld van NOM, die met niets anders te vergelijken is. Op het programma staan nummers die de tand des tijds al decennialang hebben doorstaan, de grootste hits van de band en natuurlijk ook nieuw werk.

NOM ontstond eind jaren tachtig in de rockscene van Leningrad en bewoog zich vanaf het allereerste begin in een universum dat volledig op zichzelf stond. Terwijl iedereen om hen heen probeerde serieuze rockhelden te zijn, koos NOM een heel andere weg: ‘het idiote in de dramatische aspecten van het leven naar boven halen en de dramatische kanten van het idiote uitvergroten’.

Van garagerock tot elektronica en iets wat dicht tegen komische opera aanligt; van klassieke Russische poëzie tot absurditeit uit eigen koker. En door dat alles heen heeft NOM nooit het vermogen verloren om te lachen om de wereld om zich heen — zeker niet wanneer de werkelijkheid zelf steeds meer op een theater van het absurde begint te lijken.

Critici noemden NOM ooit ‘het laatste bolwerk van meedogenloze satire’. De jaren zijn verstreken, maar de omschrijving lijkt actueler dan ooit.

Verhuurconcert
In Splendor hoor je de 55 musici die aan Splendor verbonden zijn, en de gasten die zij uitnodigen. Dat zie je terug in de titel, bijvoorbeeld: ‘Felix Schlarmann presenteert…’ of ‘Splendor presenteert…’.
Maar Splendor is er ook voor musici van buiten. Zij kunnen onze ruimtes huren voor hun concerten, releases, try-outs. Dit concert is zo’n verhuurconcert: een optreden van externe musici, georganiseerd op eigen initiatief.

The legendary St. Petersburg band NOM is coming with its signature dramatic-idiotic show.

Music, theatre, absurdity, satire, and that utterly unique world of NOM that is impossible to mistake for anything else. The programme features songs that have stood the test of decades, the band’s greatest hits, and, of course, new material.

NOM emerged on the Leningrad rock scene back in the late 1980s and, from the very beginning, existed in a universe entirely of its own. While everyone around them was busy trying to be serious rock heroes, NOM chose a different path: “the idiotisation of the dramatic aspects of life and the dramatisation of its idiotic aspects.”

From garage rock to electronics and something approaching comic opera, from classical Russian poetry to absurdity entirely of their own making. And through it all, NOM has never lost its ability to laugh at the world around them — especially when reality itself begins to resemble the theatre of the absurd.

Critics once called NOM “the last bastion of merciless satire”. The years have passed, but somehow that description seems more relevant than ever.

Venue Rental Concert
At Splendor, you can hear the 55 musicians who are part of Splendor, as well as the guests they invite. This is reflected in the title, for example: ‘Felix Schlarmann presents…’ or ‘Splendor presents…’.
But Splendor is also a space for musicians from outside our community. They can rent our spaces for concerts, releases, try-outs, and other events. This concert is one such venue rental: a performance by external musicians, organised on their own initiative.
