Looking for volunteers: Amsterdam international theatre group seeks Stage manager and Sound operator
The Badhuistheater International Theatre company wants your help for our upcoming production Blackadder Goes Forth. Blackadder is a dry, cynical English comedy set in the allied trenches in 1917, one hundred years ago this year. Expect witty remarks, hilarious misunderstandings and the comedy of some deeply, deeply flawed characters.
What do we need from you? We need a stage manager and a sound operator.
As stage manager your tasks could include managing the props and planning and executing scene changes.
The sound operator will need to carefully deliver seamless sound cues, to be planned out with the director in advance.
In addition to the performances (dates and times below) we would ask you to attend three or four rehearsals before hand, and more if your time allows.
We are a drastically under funded community theatre group, who thrive in chaos. This is a volunteer position and - apart from the company of some truly lovely people - we cannot offer compensation apart from travel costs. If you need order and process you will hate us - we have gone from strength to strength in a state of complete anarchy. It works for us and we hope it will work for you too.
We don't need you to have experience, just to be an enthusiastic, quick learner, who is highly dependable (it's the only way chaos works) and understand that what happens off stage is just as important as what happens onstage. We hope to meet people who are eager to do stage management and sound on an ongoing basis, but if you are an aspiring actor who just wants to spend time in a theatre, drop us a line anyway and we'll see what we can do.
About the Badhuis International Theater Group
Actors from the Netherlands, Ireland, England, Italy, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Russia, Norway, Portugal and Scotland work with stage crew from Brazil and the Czech Republic to bring you divine theatrical experiences. A truly international group, the Badhuis International have rapidly moved from two short staged readings in 2014, to four full length productions in 2016. A learning group, the Badhuis International invests energy in training up young and aspiring actors, and energizes our community by bringing younger and more mature actors together. Our mission is twofold: to bring a range of less internationally known English language writers - such as Sean O'Casey, Dylan Thomas, Jack Kerouac and Robbie Burns - to a Dutch and international audience, and to remind people of the irreplaceable joy and enduring need for live theater.

About the Baduistheater
Before Amsterdammers had showers in every home, the city was full of bath houses where the city's residents would come to wash. In 1982, the Badhuis on Boerhaveplein, in the Oosterpark neighbourhood was converted into a theatre. In the years since, it has become a unique international space for performances, live bands, parties, debates and film nights. Appropriately, the theatre sits in the middle of a broad and busy square, where it has become a focal point, bringing the local and international community together for festivals, parties and culture.
